The Hawcreek-Flat Rock Area Endowment was established in 2002 for the purpose of funding programs and projects in the Northeast corner of Bartholomew County. An advisory board of 15 area residents review grant requests and make requests for funding based on the needs of the community.

The Hawcreek-Flat Rock Area Endowment awarded the 2008 grants in a special ceremony on the historic Hope Town Square. A total of $8,939 was presented to a wide cross-section of area organizations and their respective programs: Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corporation, $2025; Dollars For Scholars, $300; Community Center of Hope, $1,000; Art Guild of Hope, $250; Clifford Volunteer Fire Department, $1,310; Hope Area Food Bank, $700; Yellow Trail Museum, $460; Hartsville Volunteer Fire Department, $800; Parents Solutions Group, $594; and Hauser High School, $1,500. Since its inception in 2002, the Endowment Fund has fulfilled over $23,000 in grant requests.
