Grants awarded by the Hawcreek-Flat Rock Area Endowment in 2007 were a record amount of $6,875. This year’s grant awards bring the grand total of grant money given back to the communities in Hawcreek and Flat Rock townships to $14,075.

Grants from the Endowment were first given in 2004 and have grown substantially each year. In 2004 grant awards totaled $1,000; 2005 total was $2500; 2006 total was $3700; with 2007 total of $6875 bringing the total to the previously mentioned $14,075.

The total for all Grant Requests for 2007 came to $18,742.85, so the need in our communities continues to be larger than the amount the fund is able to approve grants for. Only the interest from the money given to the Endowment is used to award grants.
